Welcome to Hickam Hurricanes. Whether your family just PCS'd to Hawaii or you've been looking for a competitive swim team, we're glad you found us. We accept new swimmers year-round and our coaching staff will help determine the best group for your child.
How to Join
Step 1: Schedule a Tryout Tryouts are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:45–4:15 PM at the Camp Smith Training Pool. Use the link below to reserve a spot. When signing up, please include your swimmer's full name and a brief description of their swimming background.
Step 2: Get Placed Our coaching staff will evaluate your swimmer and place them in the group that best fits their current ability — Novice, Age Group, or Junior/Senior.
Step 3: Register Once placed, you'll complete registration through Commit Swimming. There is a one-time registration fee of $100 per swimmer, plus monthly fees based on group placement. Additional fees include a $25 annual equipment fee and USA Swimming registration (paid directly to USA Swimming).

FAQs
Swimmers should be able to swim at least 100 meters of freestyle without stopping. We are a competitive swim team, not a learn-to-swim program. However, we do offer periodic introductory and advanced swim lessons — contact us for details.
We understand military life. There are no long-term contracts. Monthly fees are paid month-to-month, and we'll make the transition as easy as possible.
Swimsuit (no trunks or sleeves), goggles, and a towel. That's it for the tryout.
Camp Smith Training Pool requires base access. If you don't currently have access, reach out to us and we can help coordinate.
All competitive swimmers are required to register with USA Swimming. This is a separate fee paid directly to USA Swimming and covers insurance and meet eligibility.
